Glenn Beck "prefers" Rick Santorum

While I have not been the biggest fan of Glenn Beck, I do respect his opinion as a conservative intellectual. I find it interesting that he also recognizes how good (perhaps better put, much better than the rest of the Republican field) Rick Santorum is.

This following video is from Glenn Beck's show and his comments that compare Rick Santorum to a George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Actually, I do not think these comments are an exaggeration. Rick Santorum is excellent on foreign affairs and foreign policy, but also is conservative on the whole spectrum of issues.

Advertisement bringing to light Herman Cain's Pro-Choice position

This blog is intended to be a positive case for Rick Santorum. The vein of this post, though, highlights the fact that Rick Santorum is the most pro-life candidate in the race by sharing the comments of his political opponent Herman Cain. It also highlights how Rick Santorum is "battle-tested" in his conservatism. After 12 years in the United States Senate, he has not changed positions and that he can easily articulate his views....It is apparent that some candidates (Herman Cain included) have not necessarily thought through (or perhaps they have) their positions on issues. But if Herman Cain hasn't thought through his position on abortion and still cannot articulate a clear, pro-life position, then how could he possible hope to implement such a viewpoint.

Really Big Endorsement!!! Association of Republican Legislatures

I think this is the best barometer of how good Rick Santorum would be for our country? The most conservative (but not archconservative) and the most intelligent, polically savvy group of people in the country supports Rick Santorum.

Article notes Catholic vote is important for Santorum and for all nominees

The writer does a nice job in recognizing the Catholic vote as important in the 2012 GOP Presidential Nomination. However, given that she used the National Catholic Reporter as a reference (as opposed the that National Catholic Register), shows http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifthat like most people in the media, she does not know what an authentic Catholic source is.

Santorum speaks on the US withdrawal from Iraq

Obama has squandered all the gains of the United States in Iraq, thus weakening our strategic position in Iraq and the Middle East. He neglected our relationship a potentially powerful ally.

Video from the Values Voter summit (c-span). Rick Santorum speaks at around 11:40am in the video--one of the best speeches he has given.

Santorum is right about American Dream

David Frum writes about how Santorum is correct in the problems facing America.

OpEd Piece by David From entitled: "The American Dream Moves to Denmark: At the GOP's latest debate, Rick Santorum utters some hard truths about our economic decline."

Santorum wins Las Vegas debate

This article is positive in that it believes Santorum won the Las Vegas debate. However, it seems to me that the article also gets Santorum's motivation (as I view it) incorrect. In the article, it says...
"While the other candidates tried to focus on economic issues, Santorum continually pivoted to social issues and talked of “family and faith.” This is not the rhetoric that will appeal to most or even many Republican voters, but it is designed to appeal to a distinct group of social conservative Iowa GOP caucusgoers. He’s not trying to compete with Mitt Romney as the frontrunner or Herman Cain as the flavor of the month, but simply with Michele Bachmann to be the candidate of social conservatives in Iowa."
Isn't it a sad state of affairs when people believe that Republicans do not accept appeals to "family and faith" and social issues. It seems to me that the Republican Party was founded upon a social issue: the abolition of slavery.

Why could it not be that Santorum was not "appealing" to anyone, but that he was merely answering the question honestly. In fact, that is why I like Santorum....that he seems focused on the truth.

Some Background

I will begin my posting some bare-bones information about Rick Santorum. The first info appears to come from the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress: Rick Santorum.
